Heroes of Tomorrow: Empowering Young Leader

Calling all high school students! Are you interested in advocating for change within your school? Do you want to organize your local community? Then MYLI is where you need to be this August! The Muslim Youth Leadership Intensive is an annual overnight intensive designed to teach high school students the skills they need to create long-lasting change within their communities. The event is a two-day long, overnight program that will encourage students to delve deeper into the individual impact that they can have on their communities through leadership training, career panels, tours of the State House, and more. Space is limited! Apply today.
To apply, students may fill out the application including a written essay with the prompt: Describe a specific challenge or issue within your community that you are passionate about addressing? OR What are the most important values you believe a leader should uphold? How do you embody these values in your daily life? Essay Word Count: 200 - 350 Words.
Please note that this event is application-based, so you'll have to apply first for a chance to be selected. Once you are selected, tickets are priced at $50. Don’t miss out on your chance to be part of something special—apply now and secure your spot! Certificates of completion will be awarded to students upon the event's conclusion.
Parents may drop off youth at the NJ State House at 8 AM on August 2nd and picked up on August 3rd at 4:30 PM at the Princeton Holiday Inn.
CAIR-NJ will also be offering transportation by bus from Darul Islah and from the Muslim Community of New Jersey Masjid (MCNJ). To ride on the bus you MUST register for it.
Program Itinerary:
DAY 1: AUGUST 2ND, 2024 // Civic Engagement and Civil Rights
- 8:00AM: Arrival in Trenton, Security Clearance, Schedule Handout, Breakfast Handout
- 9:00AM: Opening Ceremonies and Morning Activities
- 10:30AM: Session 1, Understanding Civic Engagement
- 12:00PM: Jummah and Lunch
- 2:00PM: Session 2, Civil Rights and Advocacy
- 3:00PM: Trenton State House Scavenger Hunt
- 5:10PM: Asr Prayer
- 5:30: Dinner
- 7:30: Transport back to Hotel
DAY 2: AUGUST 3RD, 2024 // Becoming an Active Community Member
- 7:00AM: Breakfast
- 8:00AM: Session 3, Leadership Skills Development
- 10:00AM: Session 4, Community Service and Volunteerism
- 11:30PM: Dhur & Lunch
- 12:30PM: Debate Tournament
- 1:30PM: Session 6, Conflict Resolution and Problem-Solving
- 3:30: Closing Ceremony
- 4:30: Parent Pick Up or Transport back to MCNJ/Darul-Islah
